Note:

The July Patch - 2008.2p1 is made available as a full installer instead of as a patch to the previous install of 2008.2 If you downloaded recently, then you probably already have the latest build, and nothing is required.

Users can verify the correct build number by consulting the ePublisher 2008 release schedule.

Installer: Installer fails on "http" handler misconfiguration

ePublisher installers rollback installation if the default browser is misconfigured. This can occur if a user has installed and specified an alternate default browser, such as FireFox, and then later uninstalled the alternate browser.

Reset the default browser via the Windows "Set Program Access and Defaults" application.

Oracle Help: Oracle Help fails compilation

Packaging changes introduced with 2008.2 incorrectly install "oracle_ice.jar" instead of "oracle_ice5.jar".

Copy "Helpers\ohelp\oracle_ice.jar" to "Helpers\ohelp\oracle_ice5.jar".

Sun JavaHelp: JavaHelp fails compilation

Packaging changes introduced with 2008.2 install the JavaHelp helpers into the wrong directory locations.

This issue affects both Sun JavaHelp 1.1.3 and Sun JavaHelp 2.0:

  • Rename "Helpers\javahelp" to "Helpers\javahelp1.1.3".
  • Rename "Helpers\javahelp2" to "Helpers\javahelp2.0".

FrameMaker: FrameMaker "index out of range" errors

Support for FrameMaker combined font handling was added in 2008.2. However, in certain cases, FrameMaker will emit invalid combined font characters.

FrameMaker 8: FrameMaker 8.0 does not emit 7.0 MIF as 7.x does

Users making use of FrameMaker 8.0's Unicode mode will likely encounter this default. It presents has mismapped characters in generated output, usually question marks ("?"). ePublisher now correctly processes Unicode end-to-end from FrameMaker 8.0 sources.

DITA: Invalid whitespace handling in output from certain DITA source documents

Whitespace handling during translation to ePublisher's intermediate XML format (WIF) was incorrect for certain DITA element hierarchies.

DITA: Default filename markers take precedence over user defined filename markers in DITA content

Users may leverage DITA's <othermeta> element to define alternate filename markers for their generated documents. ePublisher automatically defines standard "Filename" markers based on source DITA topic file names. However, these default filename markers should not take precedence over user-defined filename markers.

A change made in the ePublisher 9.3 release can result in certain FrameMaker documents "locking up" during pre-processing operations.

WinHelp: Table cells with multiple paragraphs not formatting correctly

The RTF emitted for paragraphs within table cells cause the WinHelp run-time to treat these paragraphs as new table cells rather than as extensions of an existing table cell.
