You use the General tab of the Preferences dialog to specify the number of recent projects to display on the Start page, whether new documents are automatically scanned, and where user-created formats are stored. You can also reset the toolbar and dock positions using this dialog.
If you know XML, you can create your own custom formats to use with WebWorks ePublisher Pro. You use the User formats directory preference setting to specify the location of any formats you have created. When you add your custom formats to the User formats directory, they will be selectable from the New Project dialog. The default location for user formats is C:\Documents and Settings\user\My Documents\ePublisher Pro User Formats.
This option lets you specify when documents added to your project should be scanned by WebWorks ePublisher Pro. Choose Always if you always want WebWorks ePublisher Pro to scan new documents added to your project. Choose Never if you want to scan all documents manually, or choose Ask if you want WebWorks ePublisher Pro to ask you whether to scan each time you add new documents. The default value for this option is Always.
You use this setting to specify whether you want to allow user style overrides in new projects you create. When you add overrides to the output in your project, WebWorks ePublisher Pro adds bookmarks to your Microsoft Word documents to store the override information. These bookmarks contain unique IDs that let WebWorks ePublisher Pro keep track of your overrides. These IDs are invisible and will not affect the functionality of your source documents.

If you deselect this option, you cannot add overrides to your output; therefore, you will not be able to use the Document Designer. |
If you do not want WebWorks ePublisher Pro to add these unique ID bookmarks to your Microsoft Word documents, deselect the New projects allow user style overrides in document previews by default checkbox.
If all paragraphs in your Microsoft Word documents use a style other than Normal, and you do not plan on adding any overrides to your documents, you may want to deselect this option. While this setting affects all new projects you create, you can allow overrides to be added on an individual project basis by selecting the Allow user style overrides in document previews setting in the Project Settings dialog.
Use this option to control the number of recent projects displayed on the Start page. Enter the number of recent projects you want displayed, or click Clear List to clear the list of recent projects on the Start page.
Resetting the toolbar restores the default settings to the toolbar. To reset the toolbar, click Reset Toolbar.
WebWorks ePublisher Pro lets you dock your toolbar on the top, bottom, left or right of the application, or can specify that the toolbar floats. If you want to revert to the original toolbar location, click Reset Dock Positions.
