By default, ePublisher Pro’s user interface comes preset with certain toolbar icons and window settings; however, you can customize the user interface to suit your preferences and to fit your workstyle. In ePublisher Pro, the Document Manager, the Output Explorer, the Log Window, and the Document Designer can be moved to different locations within the GUI or made into floating windows; in addition to the flexibility of modifying the windows in ePublisher Pro, you can also modify, remove, or create toolbars.
When opening ePublisher Pro for the first time, the Document Manager and Output Explorer will be docked and the Log Window and the Document Designer will be undocked. When a window is undocked, it will appear as a tab in the sidebar, and it will auto-hide unless you hover over the tab in the sidebar. When you hover over an undocked window, the window will display.
Whenever you make changes to the user interface – that is, move the windows or change the window’s dock setting – those changes will take effect for each subsequent project that you create or open. For example, if you dock the Document Designer, Document Manager, and Output Explorer, and add customized buttons to the toolbar, then these settings will become the default settings and will be available for each project you open.
When a window is docked, it is stationary within the user interface, which means that the window will always be visible. If you plan on using the Document Manager, Output Explorer, Log Window, or Document Designer extensively, then it would be more convenient to dock the window.
For example, the Document Manager would be an ideal window to dock so that you can view, access, and modify the groups and source documents that are used within the project more easily.

By default, the user interface is broken up into four separate panes: a pane that contains the Document Manager and Output Explorer, a pane that contains the Start Page, a pane that contains the Document Designer, and a pane that contains the Log Window. The width of each docked window pane can be resized by using the borders that separate each window pane.
By default, there will be five windows in the user interface: the Document Manager, the Output Explorer, the Document Designer, the Log Window, and the Start Page. Unless the window shares a pane with another window, you cannot resize the window; therefore, by default, you can only resize the height of the Document Manager, the Log Window, and the Output Explorer.
You can rearrange docked windows – that is, you can move the windows to a new location within the user interface. For example, you can move the Output Explorer into a new window pane next to the Start Page or you can move the Document Designer into the same window pane as the Document Manager. You can move the Document Manager, Document Designer, Log Window, and Output Explorer around in the user interface; however, the Start Page cannot be moved. The Start Page essentially serves as the central point from which all the windows are arranged.
When a window is undocked, it is not stationary within the user interface, which means that the window will auto-hide and appear as a tab in the sidebar. If you do not plan on using the Document Manager, Log Window, Output Explorer, or Document Designer extensively, then it would be convenient to undock the window so that it will not appear in the user interface. If you choose to undock the window, then the window will be accessible when you hover over its tab in the sidebar.
For example, if you do not plan to use the Document Designer to modify any of your output, then you should undock the window. When you undock the window, it will roll into a tab, which you can access from the sidebar.

In ePublisher Pro, you can make the Document Manager, Output Explorer, Log Window, and Document Designer floating windows. A floating window is a window that is detached from the user interface and can be moved to any location on your screen. A floating window can be created with any docked window. You cannot create a floating window with an undocked window.

In ePublisher Pro, there is an option to reset the positions of the windows within the user interface. This option allows you to restore the default dock positions and the default locations of the windows in the user interface. For example, if you have modified the positions of the windows, you can reset the default docking positions and locations of the windows.

ePublisher Pro gives you extensive control over the appearance of the user interface by allowing you to customize the appearance of your toolbar. With ePublisher Pro, you can add, remove, customize, or create buttons and create your own custom toolbars. By customizing your own toolbar and buttons, you are able to create a workspace that fits your preferences and work style.
Within ePublisher Pro, you can decide which toolbars will be visible within the user interface. When you have customized toolbars, you can have multiple toolbars or a single toolbar visible in the user interface.
Toolbar is the name of the default toolbar that comes standard with ePublisher Pro. When you want to make any modifications to the default toolbar, you would do so by choosing Toolbar from the list of available toolbars. By default, this toolbar comes with predefined buttons, and each button is preset with a specific function and performs a certain task when it is clicked.
The buttons that come by default with the toolbar do not represent all of the available functions in ePublisher Pro. If there are any additional tasks that you want to access by using the toolbar, you can add and/or create buttons that are representative of those tasks and add them to an existing toolbar or you can create a new toolbar completely from scratch.
For example, the default toolbar does not come with a remove button
; you can either customize the existing toolbar by adding this button to it, or you can create an entirely new toolbar that contains any combination of buttons.

Choose Docked Top if you would like the toolbar to appear under the main menu. |

Choose Docked Right if you would like for the toolbar to appear in the right sidebar. |

Choose Floating if you would like the toolbar to be separate from the user interface. When you choose to float the toolbar, it will appear as a separate toolbar outside of the application so that you can position the toolbar wherever you want. |

In any ePublisher Pro project, you can display multiple toolbars simultaneously. By default, once you create a new toolbar, it will display in the user interface underneath the default toolbar. You can control which toolbars are displayed in the user interface, which means that you can pick and choose the visibility for the default toolbar and for the custom toolbars that you create. The visibility that you set for each toolbar in the user interface will affect whether it is displayed in the user interface for subsequent projects that are opened.
You can add new buttons to any existing toolbar. The buttons you add can either be user-created buttons or existing buttons that come standard with ePublisher Pro.

If you want to move the toolbar from its current position, you can choose to move it to one of four locations.
If you want to fix the toolbar in its current position, you can choose to lock the toolbar. When you lock the toolbar, it will no longer be movable, which means that the toolbar will remain fixed in its current location.

If you want the toolbar to be movable, you can unlock the toolbar. When a toolbar is unlocked, you can move it to either sidebar or to the top or bottom of the user interface.

Deselect Lock the Toolbars. |
Under Edit > Preferences, there is an option to reset the toolbar. By resetting the toolbar, you are restoring the default toolbar to its original state, which means that it will lose any customizations you have made to it, and it will move back to its original docked position underneath the main menu. When you reset the toolbar, you are essentially removing any changes you have made to the toolbar; therefore, any customized toolbars you have created will be deleted.

If a toolbar is no longer being used, you can remove the toolbar from view. The toolbar will still be available; you are only changing the visibility of the toolbar in the user interface.
