2008.1.b May Patch

The May Patch - 2008.1.b is made available as a full installer instead of as a patch to the previous install of 2008.1. If you downloaded recently, then you probably already have the latest build, and nothing is required.

Users can verify the correct build number by consulting the ePublisher 2008 release schedule.

Fixed Issues

Defect Number Description Workaround Status

FrameMaker + Mixed Language Encodings: Unresolved links - OK in FrameMaker, unresolved in ePublisher Pro

When the destination paragraph of a cross-reference contains non-Latin text, the encoding of the reference gets mismatched with that of the destination marker during processing.

The only available workaround is to create your own cross-reference markers (without the non-Latin characters) in the appropriate destination paragraphs and then create the cross-references to those markers (instead of paragraphs).

FrameMaker: Cannot duplicate document -- Structured FrameMaker, ePublisher 2008.1

A bug has been found which affects FrameMaker documents that contain tables which span across page breaks at the end of a document. If such a table is the last element in a document, then you will see an error like:

[Error] Cannot duplicate document 'C:\...\Doc.fmwif' and apply settings.

Insert a paragraph after the table.

ePublisher Express: Patch changed Express settings

The patch installer should have retained all of the settings from the original installer. It appears that is not the case this time (2008.1.a). If you had access to the target-based settings enabled for the main installation, they may revert to the default configuration after the patch. If you no longer have access to the Format menu in ePublisher Express, you can turn them back on by manually editing the application configuration file.

Close all open instances of ePublisher Express, and then follow these steps:

  1. Navigate to the ePublisher Express installation directory. By default, this is C:\Program Files\WebWorks\ePublisher Express.
  2. Locate a file called WebWorks.ePublisherExpress.exe.config.
  3. Open the file in a text editor, such as NotePad.
  4. At the bottom, change the value of the "AllowModifications" key from "false" to "true".
  5. Save and close the file.
  6. Restart the ePublisher Express application.
