Fixed Issues

Defect Number Description Workaround Status

PDF - Microsoft Word: Dead links in group PDF generated from Word source

I have a project which I'd like to generate PDF for. The project is made up of one group containing several DOC files; its target is WebWorks Help format.

When I specify one pdf for the project, the PDF generated when I generate the project does not preserve the hyperlinks which are in the DOC files, and each DOC file starts a new page.

Adobe FrameMaker FrameMaker 8 XREFs emit incorrect relative links in MIF

Technically, this is a defect in the FrameMaker 8 itself. However, given that the behavior is consistent, ePublisher will work around this issue.

I have a set of links that resolve in some cases but not in others. They are missing the javascript which forms the href. The structure of the source document --- type of cross-reference format and placement of links is virtually identical. I am at a loss to determine why this is happening.

WebWorks Help 5.0: Index navigation does not work in Firefox 3.x

Index navigation -- the links on the letters at the top of the Index pane -- do not work when WebWorks Help 5.0 output is viewed in Firefox 3.x. Clicking a link does not update the Index pane at all. I have tested this on Firefox 3.0.5.

WebWorks Help 5.0: Security issues with WWHelp in FireFox 3.0

I found that when the help is launched from our application, either from the Help menu or by the context-sensitive F1 method, any navigation is disabled. If there are Related Topics, associated PDFs, etc. the buttons are not enabled and do not access the related topics or PDFs. Clicking Next/Previous does not work. Clicking Show Navigation does not get out of single-frame view. Finally, cross-reference links do not work. The only navigation that still works is accessing topics from the Table of Contents.

This appears on the surface to be two different problems, in different browsers, but they may be related. The source HTML documents are created with WebWorks Help 4 and use the WWH 4 API. The first problem appears in I.E. 7 (but not I.E. 6). When closing the I.E. 7 brower window in which the documents were opened, the brower generates the following error:

Internet Explorer Script Error An error has occurred in the script on this page, Line: 167 Char:3 Error: Object doesn't support this property or method. Code: 0

Regardless of which document was opened, the brower always closes with this error and with the same Line : 167 and Char: 3 numbers.

When opening these same documents in Firefox 3, by executing the help.htm file, we do not a problem. A problem does appear, however, when opening these documents via a context-sensitive help button.

Microsoft HTML Help 1.x, WebWorks Help 5.0, WinHelp: Popup pages ignoring page style extension

I already had a "popup" page style in my master project, linked to the paragraph style for a glossary popup. I changed the output file extension for my "popup" page style to ".xhtml" (it used to be .html). Then I saved the stationery and generated a new .chm based on this revised stationery.

Unfortunately, all of the popup output files, under the ...My Documents\ePublisher Express Projects\<project>\Output\<target>\<project>\popups\ folder (see Popup_output_files.jpg), are still generated with the .html extension instead of the .xhtml extension.

DITA: "collection-type" attribute not preserved

WebWorks is dropping the collection-type attributes before the merged ditamapwif file. We need to alter some formatting based on collection-type, so we need the attribute preserved.

None.

Fixed.

EPUB138

DITA: Support DITA copy-to attribute in DITA-OT 1.4

We want to use the DITA copy to attribute to handle topics that are listed multiple times in the TOC. In the DITA OT, copy to enables each copy of the file to have the appropriate context, ie, parent/child/other links, etc.

None.

EPUB140

Adobe FrameMaker: Text insets in Frame 8/9 break subsequent links (especially XREFs)

If you are using FrameMaker 8 and you have text insets in your FM files, any chapter-to-chapter links (that is, a cross-reference to a title in another FrameMaker file in your BOOK) in your content will not work in the WebWorks Help 5.0 output. This may also affect other output formats, but I've not tested them.

Backup source documents and convert all text includes to text to perform a successful conversion.

Fixed.

EPUB141

WebWorks Help 5.0: Search for numbers returns no results

In a browser, open a helpset containing numbers, e.g. 25001. In the Search tab, search for the number 25001. The result is (no results).

Wiki - MoinMoin: Deployment fails

Unable to deploy output to wiki (moinmoin). "Test" operation shows success. No deployment messages in the log.

EPUB144

Adobe FrameMaker: Cross References to structured element anchors broken

A cross reference to an Element ID within the local document does not work. A cross reference to an Element ID of another document open the document, but it does not positioin to the right text. This behaviour is independent of the target output format or the version of FrameMaker

None

Fixed.

EPUB146

PDF - Microsoft Word: Incorrect bookmark hierarchy shown in Word sourced PDFs

All bookmarks (TOC) entries are present, yet the nesting behavior is incorrect. Items which should display at level 1 are shown at level 2 in some cases, but not others.

None.

Fixed.

EPUB147

CSS enabled formats: Syntax error in webworks.css

The webworks.css files is missing a required semicolon in the class definition for WebWorks_Paragraph_List_Inner following the definition for background: transparent none.

Create an override for webworks.css and insert the required semicolon to yield background: transparent none;.

Fixed.

EPUB148

ePublisher AutoMap: AutoMap fails if unable to synchronize Express project with stationery

We run ePublisher Express projects using AutoMap to autobuild our help. Because there is no stationary on the builder machine, we get the "Stationary not found" error and the build fails.

AutoMap should report a warning in this circumstance and not fail the build.

Ensure the required stationery is available to the Express project to ensure a successful synchronization.

Fixed.

EPUB153

Graphics: Modifying graphic scaling does not eliminate translation of by reference formats

By-reference images should only be used if no scaling options have been applied. However, image processing improvements introduced in ePublisher 2008.2 cause ePublisher to operate on the by-reference image rather than operating on it based on source document dimensions.

None.

Fixed.

EPUB154

Graphics: Images improperly "translated" when by-ref processing is disabled

When the "Allow by-reference graphics" option has been disabled, ePublisher is still choosing to operate on the original by-reference graphic. This results in skewed width/height dimensions in rendered output.

None.

Fixed.

EPUB155

FrameMaker: Table rows not honoring boolean expression

Table rows conditionalized with FrameMaker boolean expressions are not removed when generating output.

None.

Fixed.

EPUB156

DITA: Lists in tables indent too far

List entries inside table cell are indenting based on paragraph levels outside of the table.

Requires customization of the default.wwconfig structure-to-style mapping definition file.

Fixed.

EPUB157

DITA: Broken xrefs to section titles

WebWorks is not generating xrefs to section titles:

<section><title>

ePublisher reports the link as broken, but the link is fine in DITA OT and the DITA OT generates the link.

None.

Fixed.

EPUB158

DITA: Incorrect heading levels reported in DITA bookmaps

We are using bookmaps that allow us to define front and back matter and are seeing problems in the generated TOC where headings are nested incorrectly. For example, the preface heading should be a top level heading, but is embeded under a heading. The glossary should be a top level heading but is embedded under a lower level heading.

Requires customization of the default.wwconfig structure-to-style mapping definition file.

Fixed.

EPUB159

DITA: Xrefs to figs and tables in list items or paras go to containing element, not the fig or table

None.

Fixed.

EPUB160

ePublisher: ePublisher emits "text-align" for tables though control is missing from Style Designer

Technically, "text-align" should not be used with table. However, certainly legacy browsers (IE 6) support this feature, so we allow it in case a user would like to take advantage of it.

None.

Fixed.
